The Breakfast Show - with Marlon

0600 - 1000, M - F

"Marlon is the Production Manager for Radio Kawerau, but in addition to this he does his own show 5 times a week, between 6 and 10 in the morning, weekdays."

... You know what, that felt jus' too weird writing that in the third person. So, ok, yeah, I'm building the website too!

I'm 23 this year, and I have a whole lot of heart for Kawerau. I've lived here on and off, and have lived here an approximate total of 10 years. I've also lived in various places in New Zealand, including but not limited to Auckland, Hamilton, Kaitaia (and northwards), Whanganui, and Rotoma (which is near here anyway.)

I went to Edgecumbe College here in the BoP, and Hamilton Boys' High School. In my most recent history, I spent most of the past 5 year in Hamilton, going nowhere slow, and one year abroad on my OE, which was certainly an eye-opening experience.

My experience in the media has been somewhat hobby-ish so far, nothing really too 'professional'. Asides from my love for this town, I mostly find myself at Radio Kawerau because of 'technical' skills that I have which are so far helping this station pull together some really nice work. That 'technical' skills I speak of is mostly due to my past experiences of being involved in computers, video and audio projects, and working in and with rock bands.

I also have the added performance experiences of amateur theatre and short films, mostly acting but also behind the scenes on many occasions.

I basically think of myself as a 'pretender', not because I think I pretend to do stuff, but because of that TV show that was popular when I was a kid, called The Pretender, which had this guy in it who was really good at doin' whatever he chose to do. In saying that, I'm pretty sure I suck at some things, and I can't do crazy impossible things like MacGyver could. (On a side-note, I see Richard Dean Anderson, who played MacGyver actually used this crazy contraption in another TV show to warp through space to other planets... Yeah well, I can't do that either.)

So anyway, that's enough of the BIO stuff for here, but if you wish to see more about me please go to my personal website by clicking here. (This, like the South Park movie, is bigger, longer and uncut.)

As for the Breakfast Show itself...
At present I have a few regular feature presentations which I hope entertain you all!

NEWS / WEATHER
 - On the hour I do a National and International News Report, courtesy of Radio New Zealand.
Occasionally I also source from the BBC, if I think that their article on a news topic will sound better to read. I follow that up with a weather report. Surprisingly enough, when I arrived at Radio K, the station didn't have a thermometer so I could report the current temperature! I soon remedied that!
WHAT'S ON IN KAWERAU

- twice a morning, 0730 and 0930 a.k.a Community Bulletin Board
RANDOM FACTS FOR THE DAY
 - 0830, I try to enlighten you, with trivial information, a vocabulary builder and a quote for the day
OFF-BEAT NEWS
 - Anytime between 0930 and 1000. Because after reporting all the normal news for the day, it's nice to dust it all up with something 'whack'.

The show is still evolving, and like all our shows will increase in value and ideas as Kawerau gets behind it more and more.

IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE:

 - Birthday Calls, with a cake give-away.
 - Good Morning Kawerau, a call-in feature where anyone will be welcome to call in to wish Kawerau a good morning.

um... this list will grow, it jus' happens that as I write this it's at the end of a very long day, and my brain is in 'go to bed' mode, heh.

Not meanin' to sound like a 'hippy' or anythin', but Peace and Love to all who read this, and thank you very much for clickin' around this website.

Carpe Diem.

Marlon.
